Vasant Panchmi / Shikshapatri Jayanti - Saturday 28th January 2012

It was on this day in Maha Sud Pancham Vikram Samvat 1882, that Lord Swaminarayan wrote the Shikshapatri at Hari Mandap in Vadtal. This Scripture contains the fundamental key points taken from the other Scriptures of our Sanatan Dharma and compiled into 212 verses giving us the ultimate basic rules and regulations that every Satsangi should follow in everyday life. It can be classed as the essence of all the other Shastras summarised. By following these basic rules and regulations one can attain Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha.

The Maha Sud Pancham is also known by the name of Vasant Panchmi. Vasant or Spring season sets in from this day onwards. On this day Lord Shree Krishna went to Raivat Giri mountain on a chariot and played with various colour of Abil and Gulal. The whole of the Raivat mountain was filled with colours. Read more...
