What is Vegetarianism? ………Most people who read this article will be a vegetarian of some kind. The object of this article is therefore to highlight some of the pitfalls of being a ‘pure’ vegetarian in the Modern World, and at the very least defeat a meat-eater in a debate. As for meat-eaters reading this article, thought needs to be given to the points below before sitting down to have your next meal.

H.H Acharya Maharajshree Shree Koshalendraprasadji Maharaj's become the 7th Acharaya of the NarNarayan Gadi on 15 October 2004. He arrived in the UK on Sunday 17th June 2005, this was his first visit to the UK as Acharya. His itinerary has been full with attending various events and visiting UK mandirs. His presence has inspired many youths as he attends the assembly using both English and Gujarat. His presence and teaching give great resemblance of his father. One of his key statements has been ‘make more time in life for yourself and satsang’. We hope he continues to inspire the UK youth with regular visits to the UK.

Shree Swaminarayan Yuvak Mandal Conference
The Yuvak Mandal of Cardiff, Oldham & Bolton jointly organised a 4 day Conference (18/08/05 to 21/08/05). The four days were full of activities from presentations to stage shows. The key theme of the Conference was Kirtan Mahima. The youth were actively involved in running all religious activities over the 4 days with the presence of Bhuj Saints. It was encouraging to see the Mandirs teaming up to do a joint event, this strengthened community bonds and encouraged growth of our Satsang through Yuvak Mandal.

Celebrate the birth of Vamanji, the fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, (dwarf). Vamanji was incarnated to teach king Bali a lesson as he took over Indra kingdom. Vamanji asked king Bali for just three steps of land in charity. As soon as he said to give the land, Vamanji’s body began to expand; he covered the whole Earth with one step and all the heavenly planets with the second. He had nowhere else to put the third step and asked king Bali. After seeing this king Bali bowed down in humility and offered Vamanji his head to place the third step. Seeing him this humbled, Vamanji became very pleased and told Bali that henceforth I would permanently reside in his palace. Thereafter, on Parivartani Ekadasi, Bali, the son of Virochana, grandson of Prahlad, installed a Deity form of Vishnu in his residence.

Indira Ekadasi - 29/09/2005

A king named Indrasena, was so powerful, highly religious King and took good care of the people, and therefore he was rich in gold, grains, sons, and grandsons. His father brook and ekadashi fast, due to his he was not able to attain moksa (salvation). Hence is son King Indrasena was told to stay Indira Ekadasi Fast to free him. This involved, having one meal the day before Indira Ekadasi, do complete fast on Indira Ekadasi, and give up all kinds of enjoyment, and the day after Indira Ekadasi to feed his relatives, and finally take his meal in silence. After following theses instructions his father was given salvation. It is stated that by observing this Ekadasi Fast you are freed of all past sins.
